The 2022 Heritage Film Festival was dedicated to two of our dear friends: Ruth Corvette Cooper and Amy Halpern - truly remarkable people who left us too soon.

Ruth Corvette Cooper
(December 25, 1945 - May 9, 2022)

 

Ruth was a microbiologist at the Veterans Administration for over three decades. She studied Law after she retired. She was a progressive activist who marched against segregation and shared her love of Aboriginal art and the poetry of Langston Hughes with her little sister. 

Amy Halpern
(April 2, 1953 - August 15,2022)

 

Amy studied at UCLA and was invited to lecture and screen her work across the US and abroad - including presentations at DC's National Gallery of Art and the International Peripheral Film Festiv a; in A Coruna, Spain. Amy knew and worked with many well-known filmmakers, including renowned filmmaker Chick Strand.

We will never forget Ruth and Amy's joyful spirits, generous natures, their extensive knowledge, and love of all people. Gone too, too soon...
