ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The Heritage Film Festival is a project of IN VISIBLE COLORS and 6Hearts in partnership with
The 2022 Heritage Film Festival was dedicated to two of our dear friends: Ruth Corvette Cooper and Amy Halpern - truly remarkable people who left us too soon.
Ruth Corvette Cooper
(December 25, 1945 - May 9, 2022)
Ruth was a microbiologist at the Veterans Administration for over three decades. She studied law after she retired. She was a progressive activist who marched against segregation and shared her love of Aboriginal art and the poetry of Langston Hughes with her little sister.
Amy Halpern
(April 2, 1953 - August 15, 2022)
Amy studied at UCLA and was invited to lecture and screen her work across the US and abroad - including presentations at DC's National Gallery of Art and the International Peripheral Film Festiva; in A Coruna, Spain. Amy knew and worked with many well-known filmmakers, including renowned filmmaker Chick Strand.
We will never forget Ruth and Amy's joyful spirits, generous natures, their extensive knowledge, and love of all people. Gone too, too soon...
